The team developed an app, Wheel of Writing Prompts, to address the problem that many writers struggle to generate ideas for on-demand writing and many prompts are boring. The app took inspiration from Wheel of Musical Impressions with Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy plays this game with musical guests when they are asked to sing a random song, like a random singer. Many guests make the experience fun, such as Jamie Fox and Arianne Grande.
The team selected several character choices: brother, father, mother, sister, dog, cat. The team selected several settings: home, school, swamp, desert, forest, paradise, beach, jungle The team selected several story types: ghost, comedy, tragedy, journey, rebirth, quest, underdog and rags to riches.
The team coded a preliminary version in Scratch and then made a revised version using Unity to XCode to the Apple App Store. The team used a number of internal testers, including teachers, students, writers, engineers and relatives. The app is currently undergoing review by Apple.
